  • Gears, lockers, 33"tires?

Ok...Does anyone run 33's on stock gears, can i get away with doing this..

Also, would it be worth locking stock gears? What axle is better to lock rear or front?

Without takeing into account the previous questions, what is good locker? Anyone have ez-lockers, lockright, trutrack? those seem to be the lowest costing lockers

33's kinda sux on stock gears... but i feel its livable.

yes lock it... and do the rear first...

should i lock it...or put gears in first?

      The differences would be
      1) 33's, stock gears, locked
      2) 33's, 4.56 gears, open

Seems the price to lock is the same as the price to regear front and rear, kit from completeoffroad.com d30/chrysler8.25 kit 503$ + 60$ for d30 carrier.

Buy a lunchbox locker with the gears, open that axle once.

I've got a powertrax in the rear.

its alot cheaper to put a locker in than it is to regear...

id throw a lockrite or aussie in and call it done...

lunchbox lockers replace the spider gears, so you dont have to redo the ring and pinion.
for example lockrite, ez-lock, aussie, powertrax......
              couple hundred dollar price difference...

in 4 low youll be fine with the 33's.... im pretty sure alot of people here runs 33's on stock gears....

in my opinion, if you cant afford to do both at once... a locker is well worth the time to crack the diff open...

aussie lock the rear with 4:56's and if you want to lock the front go with the truetrack

I run 33's open/open and I'm really only restricted by my open-ness more then my lack of gears. Although Will drove my Jeep at Rausch and said "wow wheeling without gears sucks"

So I live with it but my Jeep is only my DD when its cold outside. Open/open does suck and I can't wait to lock the thing up

What rear axle do you have? Get a rear locker and 4.56 gears. I hate driving with stock gears and 33s, but its livable. Save your money and do both at once.

If you've never had a geared truck on 33's you probably won't even notice the difference. I run 33's on stock gears and there isn't any real issue.

samsies. It is what I had and was very livable. If I had the money I would of geared it, but I couldn't justify the price. I also had an aussie in the rear and found it to be great. never gave me an issue and worked great. It ran me 320 shipped to my door from Aussie for my 8.25. It was the best thing I bought for my Jeep.

On my 99 the best tank of gas I got was 17.7 MPG on stock gears and 33's, all highway on the way down to alabama. I averaged 14-15
