Jeep shut off while driving

Last night I drove home from work, packed up some clothes and headed down the shore. I drove about 30 seconds from my house, down a hill and around a curve and lost my power steering while trying to go around the curve, then i noticed the brakes too....theennnnn that the Jeep had just randomly shut off.....it was ok driving the rest of the way here and driving today...but this doesnt seem good...anyone ever hear of this happening? or anything that i should be checking?

yeah...i probably should...its just irritating...they always keep it for days on end. blah. i cant even stop in for a quick oil change...i gotta drop it off and come back....jerks

i know how to change oil and youknow that jerk haha its that i have to get it done for the warranty...i need the receipts and i dont think receipts of just the oil purchase is sufficient

do you have power steering now?

what about the brakes? soft and spongy? nothing happens?

i do not remember or not some vehicles have a hydroboost setup more commonly seen on diesel truck but some cars have it where instead of using vacuum off of the intake manifold they use the power steering pump to supply the power for the brake booster

everything seems perfectly fine now...the steering and brakes were because it shut off. those were just the first things i noticed because it didnt even shudder or anything like a stall, i hadnt even realised it wasnt running until i lost the steering and brakes

My old XJ I think it was my cam position sensor. Not sure. I parted that truck out. Twas the straw that broke the camels back.

yeah i have the same issue with my XJ....let me guess i can let it go for a while but sooner or later it wont start up ....

sure you didnt just happen to hit the key enough with your leg or something ? did it start right back up ?

it did start back up but theres really no way for me to hit it without noticing...since my locker at kohls doesnt work when i want it to i just keep the single key in my pocket and thats all was in the ignition haha

My jeep turned off once or twice on the highway. I put it in neutral and started it going 50 mph on 95.

Ended up being the TPS.

It was weird. Didn't notice the engine sound stop over the rumble of the tires, but when I went to go change lanes, power steering was gone, then it hit me, my jeep was technically off.

Bump cuz it happened againnn

same road different spot. 3/4 tank of gas, hit a bump -not hard- and it shut off. Started up again and went on my way.

WTF?????
