I'm sure the tank would work but you probably fucked up the lines, just get rid of the tank and connect the two lines coming down.

      not when you accelerate hard

if its not a leaking vacuum line, its a plugged vacuum line, check em' where they enter the intake manifold and blow em' out

            check your lines

when you pull out the control panel from the dash you'll see a cluster of colored vacum line, pull them off with it running you should hear a little whistle, if you do you have vaccum going to the switch, if you dont it became disconnected somwhere, or rotted away. so you'll have to run vaccum inside to that switch, i'm not sure which port it is, but under the hood by the heater box you will se a vacum line goin inside the cab. if you pull the connector off inside and it whistles plug it back in, your problem is one of the lines going to the vacum actuated door, or the vacum actuator itself. sometimes the diaphrams inside them dry rot and the cant hold the vacum to switch the door. good luck.

              i found it.

i found out that there was no vacume to the switch in the dash. i traced the feed line to the switch back to a junction under the hood followed all the leads and found that i had a blocked check valve. the last inlet on the intake manifold (to the back of the motor) has a small oneway check valve and it was plugged up it took it out, blew out the valve with some air and everything works fine... thanks for the help guys.
