  • no heat from vents

im having trouble locating the issue with my heat. no matter where i switch the output to it will only come out of the defrost. ive checked all the obvious vacume lines and the controls behind the dash. anyone know what else i should look for?

there are 2 blend doors in the heater box. the first one controls the amount of air that goes through the heater core giving you different temperatures and the second one determines which ducts the air can flow through which sounds like your problem. Im not really sure what is used to move the doors in your jeep but newer cars have electric motors which go bad. Some times the doors will also get stuck in a certain position because something is blocking it.

Im gonna go with heater core blockage...theres 2 hoses coming from the firewall, disconnect them and remove the heater valve thingy..put a hose to each end a few times and watch the mud come out...re-attach the hoses and you should be all set..The heatercore only holds roughly a quart of water so dnt worry about your coolant mixture being off.

I dont think he is having a heat issue (unless he left something out of the original describtion). His vents have defaulted to defreost so that if he were to drive it now he could still defreost his windsheild and see where he is going.

the heat works fine it hot. and i can change it to cold i have control over the temp and the speed of the blower just not over where it comes from. just out of the upper vent on the windshield "defrost". im gonna recheck all my vacume lines and look for this door justin is talking about.

Don't waste your time on the door, hook up a vacuum gauge and tell me what it reads, then I can definitely confirm you have a vacuum leak. Trace lines cause somewhere there is an open end or significant break.

do you think that useing a smaller vacume tank from a 98 on a 91 that had the larger volume tank would effect it. cuz thats what i did. i broke the stock one and only could find a smaller 97+ one at the JY. im talking about the tank in the bumper.

Mine fell off this weekend and all I did was plug the line that goes into that tank. Everything works fine though
