I had one in my last XJ. Not too expensive, for about 100 dollars you can have yourself a nice little setup. You need to find a place to mount the antenna. The higher you mount it, the better reception and range you will have, but the more you will wack it on trees and such on the trails. I would not recommend mounting it on the side of your jeep. I bought a mount and drilled a hole in the side of my jeep, but was always hitting it on trees and if I would have hit it hard enough, id fuck up my jeeps body panel. If you have a 97+ Up XJ you can mount it to your rear hatch since its metal. The older XJ's have fiberglass hatches. You run a ground wire for the antenna, and then run a wire from the antenna to the back of the CB radio. To make the CB work right, you need to tune the antenna with a SWR meter. They cost around 20 dollars at radio shack, or you can find someone who has one and borrow. You will only need to tune the antenna once. Run power to the CB radio and your in business. I tapped mine off my fuse block to the accessory fuse so when my jeep was off, the radio went off too.

Its cool to have. I would bullshit with truckers when i was on the highway, they would tell me where cops were, if there were traffic or accidents, it was cool. Also, good to have on trails. Lots of people run them in their jeep and it makes communicating between vehicles mucho easy.

Radio shack should have everything you need, radio, antenna, wire, swr meter.

the hardest part is figuring out where you want to put the radio and mount the antenna other than its just running the cable and securing everything but no its a pretty easy task

i more or less want it because i race dowhillmountain bikes, witch requires me to drive 3 plus hours just to get to a mountain , so i can find out where the cops are so i can shorten my drive time , and keep my insurance rates down!
