moved mine over to the drivers side, right beind the airbox, fits there no problem and just ran alittle vaccum line accross the back of the engine compartment to hook it up.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

          Air Bag?

my 91 dont even have an airbag and i have that canister. i though it was just a vacume tank in general. dont think its has anything to do with the airbag?

Mine just kinda hangs out over the distributor. I just yanked the lines up from the bumper and reconnected it in there.

Got rid of mine and connected the two lines. You can live without it, it just provides a reserve of vacuum for when you are full throttle or under very low vacuum so that your heater controls stay put. In other words you may have your heater set to floor, then you full throttle it for a few seconds and your heaters gonna loose vacuum and switch to defrost until you let of the gas and get vacuum again.

my heat only comes out of my defrost. i cant get it to come from vents or the floor. could this be because i switched to a smaller tank from a 98 or is there another possible problem. no matter where i switch the output to it only comes out defrost. hot or cold.
