  • DOM Tube/Straight Bar

can someone explain to me wtf I am doing wrong?

I keep pricing crap out on this website

    http://www.metalsdepot.com/index.phtml?aident=

and aluminum keeps coming up cheaper than steel?

Isnt aluminum a lot more expensive?

Am I putting in the wrong sizes?

For cage/chassie work what is the normal tube size you use?

    Then bar for control arms?

Don't you want the home depot? They have a vast assortment of 90s and 45s and all different sizes of threaded pipe!!! That shit is way bigger than the tube you're looking at!!

make your main cage out of 1.75" diameter , typical is .120 wall

1.5" for less "critical" parts if you want

1.75 is becoming the common ruled size for sanctioned events

control arms 1.75"x.25" tube is a pretty average standard, though guys fuck up stuff thats more intense than that also..what is this for?

      i see Total:
$101.40 for a stick (20 feet) of the DOM i mentioned above for cage elements.

Im just experimenting for a future project. Turns out one of the guys that just moved right by me(works in my office) use to fabricate sique nasty shit. He did Trophy Truck chassies/race car chassies/ pretty much everything.

you mean like square tube stock? i dunno, i see no reason to play with a proven round tube design..bar is typically solid lengths, and tube is the common standard

Depending on the aluminum it will be cheaper. 6061 (general purpose) aluminum is pretty cheap compared to steel.

This. Aluminum is easier to machine and mold to get it the desired form.
