  • Windshield spreader bar

Im thinking of doing the rcrocs series next year in class one, and in reading through the rules for the class it said every vehicle must have a windshield spreader bar...can somone provide me with a pic or a good description of what it is??

if your windshield face is comprised of a rectangular cage structure, u need a bar spanning vertically/horizontally between them. minimum one

the v-shaped ones are vertical spreaders

what they are welded to on the bottom out of sight right behind the hood-line is a horizontal spreader

Alright, thanks Will, Im reading through the rules..again, can you determine if the rules say you MUST have one for all vehicles in class one, or just if the roof has been modified?

i cant speak for kyle whos in charge of tech over there, but from the best of my understanding, if you have a factory roof you dont need a spreader bar or cage in class 1..aka your XJ should be golden.

best suited to PM kyle over there on the RC forums (kbjeepin) with any questions you have to be sure

line mountain races currently have the most lax rules concerning that...its in PA, google it for info, i suppose its similar to class one basics..a little more probably..i know you cant have glass

rausch's race series is kickin off next year, it will be for more built rigs. there are talks of a smaller class, but with that comes all the necessary safety stuff, i imagine cages will be a mainstay of that. fire suits, helmets, that sort of thing.

I'm pretty sure you don't need a vertical windshield bar. The 2010 rules read the same as the 2009 and no one has a vertical bar. You don't even need a vertical bar per WE-Rock rules.

I believe the spreader bar they are talking about is connecting the B pillar to the A pillar. Like on YJs the bar goes to the windshield.

"Spreader bar" is kind of a vague term. You should really post this question on the RC forum.
