Dome light tech

I got a new headliner for my jeep last year out of a 99 and it came with the dome lights. My 97 I think still used the older pre 97 dome lights. It was plug and play ( front and rear ). I can physically push the left and right buttons and the lights will come on, but if I turn my light knob to turn the main dome light on, nothing happens.

In the rear, I have the newer style dome light that was plug and play, but when i push the button or turn the light switch up front, it doesnt come on. Any ideas?

all that wiring is lamesauce. you gotta fuck around with a test light and see what does what and move wires around.
