  • automatic transmission vibration

my original tranny blew. so i bought one off craigslist, the guy said it was remanufactured. it had a painted black torque converter, so i guess he could be correct. i put the newly used one in no problems. then when shifting into a lower gear and the rpms drop down the truck has a vibe. the vibe got so bad i think it loosened up the torque converter bolts. i tightened the bolts really good one more time and it did the same thing. what am i doing wrong? any help would be appreciated! this is on my s10 2.2litre, 2wd. 4l60e transmission.

some engines are internal balanced and some are externaly balanced.
Weights are usually on the flexplate look to see if you are missing a weight or have an extra weight.
I once swapped a chevy 400 (external) flexplate on a chevy 350 (internal) vibrated like crazy.

other than than that I would have to drive and fell the vibration is it speed related rpm related gear related etc.

it might be as simple as not mounting the u-joint out of place.

you can usually just slid the tranny back a few inches to change a flex plate no need to take the transmission all the way out.

        Did you swap flex plates?
