  • Atlas vs Teralow

I need your guys opinion because I have to make a choice soon to buy the parts.

I can get an Atlas Tcase for $2200 new and installed.

or I could find a used 231 with a tera low kit for around $700 to $900

This would cut a huge cost on the whole build.

Do you guys feel the Atlas is that much better that its worth that money to run RCrocs and other comps??

    yes, atlas is amazing.

teralow uses weak stock case, with a marginal upgrade to the weaker chain design and outputs

well thinking about it more, it depends on the abuse you want to put it through, and also if you want to twin stick it. you cant twin stick a 231

Hmmm i forgot about the twin stick option.. good point dana. Damn.

The abuse will be average, nothing real crazy.

35s are going to be tire size btw

though you cant do a rear disconnect with the 231 you can do a rear low only lol if that helps you any.

and i would rather have a rubicon case then a teralow 231

and if it makes any difference i have some play in my t-case that pisses me off. though i have a 5 speed and im not terribly easy on it. if you have an auto its considerably kinder to drive line stuff. thats also something to take into account.

Yea I do have an auto. Man I dunno, do I want to shell out the extra cash for the Atlas. Rubicon t case I have seen for around $1200. I guess that is an idea.

btw, Im pretty sure I want your axle if you want to part with it. I gotta check a couple things though.

What bracket kit do you have on it agian?

                Go with the Atlas.
Cheapest way out is go with a Dana 300 twin stick. 4:1 is $600 or a 231 crawl box for about the same.
But by the time your done upgrading the 300 you could have paid for the Atlas, and the atlas is stronger and better build at least they have syncros for higher speed shifts.

I would definitely want twin stick for the competitions class 3 and 4 it is a must.

You will always be able to sell the atlas for good money not the 231

you can aslo throw s-10 internals in your 231 they are more beaf than stock. cheep e z upgrade. i dont see the need for an atlas on a rig that wont be subjected to that much abuse but thats my 2cent.

Our definitions of that much abuse are probably different.

Didn't really read the thread, but I don't know if I would even consider a teralow kit.

For near the same price you could pick up a NP241 from a Rubicon and have a much stronger 4:1 case. From what I have read it's a bolt in swap.
