  • XJ Passenger Side Camber

It appears that I have a negative camber on my passenger side of my Jeep front axle. I've determined this through a google search that yielded a diagram that looks exactly as my tire does (the top of the tire is angled in and the bottom is angled out. This is only the case on my passenger side. I installed a Rusty's 3" lift kit and only after that did I notice this issue. I've been overlooking the fact but this is only going to unevenly wear my tires out. Has anyone encountered this issue/how do I rectify it? I've heard that adjustable ball joints can help solve this issue?

How difficult a task is this ball joint replacement going to be? And how much can I save myself by attempting this task myself vs. having a shop do it roughly?

They are not too hard to change. Check to see if it the uni bearing or the ball joint first so you are not throwing parts that may be wrong at a problem

I'm gonna try and get some pictures this week to help possibly identify this problem so I'm not throwing parts at something thats not broken...pics to follow. The clicking is getting worse, and it feels like my axle is going to fall out. Anyone available this Sunday to help me troubleshoot/rectify this problem? I have full access to a heated garage with an air compressor, impact wrench and a pretty decent set of tools to use?

                    Andys troubleshooting guide
step one- jack up the axle and check if the ball joints drop.....
step two- grab the tire and shake it around seeing if there is play in the bearing...

I think I need to quit procrastinating and really get in there and see whats going on before my jeep falls apart...I'll see what that yields.

the unit bearings are easy to replace and can be done in the driveway, the balljoints are a bitch and require special tools.. (i've done both)

I took a look under the Jeep just now when I stepped out for a break and it looks like the rubber washer on the passenger tie rod end is shot? I don't suppose this is any indication of anything else as well?

step three- with tires on ground have a friend wiggle steering wheel while you check for play in tierod ends (this will not solve your camber issue)
