  • am I missing something?

Long story short, my xj is lifted 3" and can still barely clear 30" tires.
I've heard of stock ones being able to fit 31s, but I still had to trim my inner fenders a bit to fit 30s with a lift.
Maybe I just need to get wheel spacers and stop whining? Help?!

Yeah get some pics of your XJ. What lift is it? What tires and rims?

I'm running (for a couple more days) 3" coils, 30"x9.50" BFG ATs, and canyon rims with absolutley no rubbing anywhere up front either during stuff or turning....had minor rubbing on the rear flare before the lift but that was due to saggy leaf springs.

I had no rubbing stock with 30s. Are you flexing when the tires hit the fenders or just driving? sway bars?

Also is the rubbing on the control arms or is it on the fenders. because if you are rubbing at full turning lock and you have stock rims that is mostlikely your problem without wheel spacers.

                      thanks for all the replies.
the lift is rough country's AAL and the tires are 30/9.5/15s. everything besides the lift, tires and wheels are stock.

before I trimmed the inner fenders they were rubbing just when i was driving, but now they just rub on nearly full turns.

you can see where it's been rubbing and where I cut:

and not the best pic, but..

Go out and pick up a 6-pack, a set of cutting wheels and stop by for an afternoon. I'll get ya ready to run 37"s

that's where my 33's rubbed on the 96, just cut out a little rectangular shape horizontally, instead of vertically with the body. If that makes any sense.
                          problem solved...

or add spacers and shackles with some longer brake lines and be done with it
