  • abs problem

    my friend just purchased a cherrokee limited edition with abs... i guess its not like the regular cherrokee that just have the brake booster this one has a pump and this and that... so we were dondering can you convert it to non abs.... we think the pumps gone bad and the brakes are really stiff

    oh jesus he's fucked. Im guessing its a renix motor (older than 91) and he has the accumulator thing. It's this black egg looking thing up by the firewall that was sent straight from hell. Basically it goes bad and then the brakes barely work. I got a master cyl, booster and proportioning valve from a 96 cherokee and swapped that in. I got rid of that old braking system entirely, but I had the exact same problem.

      Swap out the master, proportioning valve and replace the lines.

        does the master cylinder bolt right up after you remove that abs still? just wanna know before he starts buying this stuff
