  • rear quarter panel

okay so here's the dilemma, i have my 95 XJ and as everyone here knows they are notorious with that rear quarter panel (lower section) for rotting out. now ive been told to use a piece of metal as a base and then use fiberglass resin to fill over it and then finishing bondo over it and then paint it up....or in plain terms, use a piece of metal to simulate welding....NOW on the other hand my good friend has told me i can come over and use his mig welder to simply weld new plates in on the quarter...however if i weld it will the heat of the welder warp the panel and make it look like garbage? it just made more sense that you would actually WELD a piece of metal in there rather than use resin to "simulate" a weld. feedback appreciated...thanks

that would in fact be the best thing and i thought of that...but for now i dont have the $$$ to put a lift or anything on it so it would look kinda goofy without the fender flares..
