so here's my situation if anyone would mind helping out....i have the open possibility of getting a 3000 lb winch (don't know brand or anything other than that), and the ability to use whatever necessary to build a decent brush guard/bumper out of steel...i have a 95 Jeep Cherokee sport...Ive been told by a few people who will remain anonymous that a winch/steel brush guard will be a stupid idea because it will add weight to the front of my jeep and waste the front end, tie rod...suspension/steering parts, etc. now my questions to you guys would be, do you have any recommendations for me...i don't wheel too often as i am really the only one i know in my area that im friends with who has a 4x4 and would want to wheel with it(not to mention a really tight budget, so i cant afford to wheel my daily driver too often)...and i don't have any upgrades to the jeep other than a tow hitch..also how much will a bumper/grille guard winch setup run me weight wise and...what my best course of action would be...thanks a bunch

a winch and winch bumper will add weight yes, but its not gonna be bad for your front end. Also a 3k winch is definitely not enough for a cherokeeP8R

probably move this to tech.
But I don't think it will mess up tie rods and shit. Well maybe indirectly from you wheeling in tougher places cause you got a wench. I think you should lift it instead.
also 3000 lb winch is junk.

hi lifts are good, but also look into a set of tow hooks up front. i see you have a hitch already which is a good start. maybe look into a small lift to start with. Rustys sells a 2" lift for 100 bucks. Then maybe look into a little bigger more aggressive tireLast edited by Pedro; 10-01-2009, 01:00 AM.P8R

Seriously though, a high lift and a few good straps never steered me wrongI don't always drink orange juice, but when I do, I prefer to chew it. #madpulp
