I know this is like helping a retarded child figure out why the square peg won't fit into their nose, but the wagoneer doesn't have a tachometer and the noise between the leaking exhaust and the SuperSwampers pretty much drowns out everything else. The speedometer also doesn't work, so I have no idea how fast I'm going anyway.
That calculator is pretty nice, except I have no fucking Idea what I'm trying to accomplish with it or what numbers to put in to get any sort of desired result.Last edited by Buffalo Phil; 09-30-2009, 10:32 PM.sigpic

you want an approximate piston speed of i believe 2200 ft per minute idk look it up online that will tell you optimum rpm for good gas mileage, because lower rpm's doesnt necessarily get better mileage. once you find that you get gears to match the tires and get the motor rpm's where you want em. i know with the HO motors you want around 2500 rpm on the highway

OK, I'm been playing with this silly calculator and I did the Tire Size Differential Adjustment and it spat out the number 332.44:1 for my new gear ratio, calculating points being, new tire size is 33, old tire size is 27 and current gear ratio is 272.sigpic

I think higher gears wouldnt damage your mileage much... the two primary accounts for mileage are vehicle weight followed by aerodynamics, these make up like 85% of why mileage sucks.... not the vehicle rpms, you can be spinnin 3k rpms but if your light on the gas its not puttin in as much gas as if your at 2k rpms with the pedal to the flore AKA throttle body wide open

OK, I just had to do that.
Well, it is a good things the Grand Wagoneer weighs 10 metric tons and it has the aerodynamics of a house. So, changing the gear ratio won't change my gallons per mile, then really, why would I be doing it?
Offroad it seems to work just fine, but then again it has only wheeled once at RC. The gearing is so deep in 4lo that I really don't have to use any pedal at all to get over shit.Last edited by Buffalo Phil; 09-30-2009, 11:01 PM.sigpic
