  • Coolant Gunk

Flushed out the radiator numerous times, and the water (during the flush) has started to come out clear, however, once it's run through the engine, it comes out all peanut butter colored again. It's still not thick, it's just the color.

How do I flush out the actual block, or is there some kind of flush kit I can buy, or a local shop that will be able to handle it?
    It's relentless, and annoying.

Please only respond with answers, and keep all hate in the Joe Nitro Section of the board.

    Thanks in advance...

you can pick up a backflush kit made by prestone at my work, or the hamden store would be easier for you, it splices into one of the heater hoses and flushes the coolant/water backwards out of the system with your garden hose. a shop could do it but they might say okay here ya go all set, and youll still have shit in there

If you have a shop do it they will either just do a drain and fill or a real flush. The difference is in the price a drain and fill is around 40 bicks and a real flush is closer to a 100 bucks.

Also you might want to flush out your heater core before winter. It is real easy to do. Just disconnect both hoses from where the ar attached at the thermostat housing and the water pump tube and flush water through with a house alterantion between the 2 hoses till the water comes out clear.

        Hey,
Thanks guys, I have had a shop flush it, it really didn't do anything at all. In fact, They said "Sorry" and didn't charge me. I don't really overheat, but it is kind of ridiculous...

Also- I bought the prestone stuff I think. Like smaller version bottle of coolant? Around 8 bucks?
It cleaned out my radiator, but not the whole system.

There is a drain somewhere on the block. But i dont know if you would be able to get it open. If you can I think you flush out the block the same way you flush you radiator.

my jeep had gunk in it for soooooo long... im pretty sure the person before i owned it put stop leak in the radiator... which gunked the shit out of everything...

i flushed it many times.. new everything... and still had gunk.. then i got one of them prestone kits that splice into the heater-core hoses..... and that seemed to do the trick
