  • help me choose between these two welders

I think with my next paycheck I'm going to finally splurge on a MIG that I have been wanting for a long time. I'm tired of welding with flux core.

Hobart has the bigger name and better reputation most likely, but $100 less for a slightly larger machine is awfully tempting.

X2, with the big name comes big support/funds for technology/quality control.
I have. Chicago tools mig from the 80's and it's never had an issue, but if I could afford it I'd like a newer, brand name mig

i wouldn't want to weld cage/armor/skid/steering/links/frame/brackets with a 110v welder. i would like to know that the welds are fully burnt in

I'm going to bite the bullet and get myself a nice 220V. It's going to hurt me in the short term as far as my build is concerned, but it's something I feel I could really benefit from.

I'm going to keep my eyes open on craiglist for good deals, but I've also found some good deals on brand new Lincoln 180a's on ebay.

I was on the fence about considering a Snap-on welder as some people told me they were made by century, and have problems. But I posted on Pirate and they said this is a pretty damn good deal, I may check it out.

man, just think of the availability and cost of replacement parts. with that lincoln you can walk into any home depot / lowes / abco / airgas and get stuff you need.

and its brand new in box for $450
