Ford 9 in.

Ok so i'm looking at a ford 9 that i could buy pretty cheap. but i have a few questions to what needs to be done for the XJ a few my thoughts are the following-

full width?
Spring Perches?
Stock gears? what are they?

i know i have to change the brakes and what not. but just want some info thats specific for Cherokees
