  • running issue

so today I got in my jeep after driving home in the rain. When I started it, it ran terribly. Like even worse than normal. Below 2k it sputters and shakes and feels like it is misfiring. After it warms up it tends to run slightly better. I'm thinking distributor or maybe my IAC or any of those other sensors that I've never cleaned.

sounds like distributor or spark plug wires having some water up in there

X2 if you get it off spray wd40 in there it displaces the water and then wipe it out.

how do I pull the distributor out? And is it one of those things that has to go back in exactly how it came out?

set to tdc mark on the block where the rotor is pointing. undo the bolt holding the clamp on the distributor down pull out in counter clockwise motion. reverse the steps for putting it in. make sure the rotor is pointing at the mark you made might take a few tries to get it right on.

the cap only goes on one way, it doesnt set timing. theres definitely water in your ignition/intake somewhere. either the dizzy or TPS most likely.
