  • steel or cast iron?

A caliper mounting bracket? Need to know for welding purposes.

Is there a way to figure it out? I remember hearing somebody tell me you can see by what color the sparks are when you take a grinder to it...

it shouldn't be any more hoopty than stock

There is a piece of metal that slides onto the mounting bracket that you beat the calipers onto, and there is a bolt that clamps down on them to hold them in place but it broke. So i'm just going to throw a couple large tacks to hold it there. A couple decent sized tacks should hold it on there better than that one 15mm bolt, it's not like it sees a ton of stress.

Oh yea, this is on the drivers side, on the passengers side the bolt was missing and i still had to beat the metal piece off with a hammer.
