Have I mentioned I hate Automatics?

They fucking annoy me.

Heres the deal. The 160 has an issue with the idle fluctuating. It bumps up every 20 seconds or so from around 1000 RPM to 1500 RPM. it used to idle worse and was throwing codes so i cleaned the MAP sensor and things improved. dandy.

But the truck will do this increase in idle while im in drive and on the brakes at a stop sign, and as the increase happens, the truck lurches forward. I have to stomp the brakes to keep from moving forward. its really fucking annoying.

I checked the tranny fluid and I have enough. anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening. never used to, and id like to get it to stop.

doesnt sound like there is anything wrong with the tranny. Just sounds like a low stall torque converter and when the truck idles up unexpectedly, your converter thinks its ready to go.

did the truck always have these idle fluctuations?

98' F-150. And the lurching, although caused by the idle, is getting more severe with time, yet the idle never gets any higher.
