  • 2000 xj engine into 99 grand cherokee?

    Friend wrecked his 2000 xj, engine ran good, rest of the jeep was done anyways,

    Another friend has a 99 ( wj ) i think? With motor knock for $500

    Thinking about swapping engine, anything diffrent?

    Both are 4.0l's

    Should work. Compare the sensors and wiring

      Did the 99 WJ's have distributors or did they go to coil packs a year ahead of the XJs?

      The accessories on the front are in different spots and shit on a WJ and I think the motor mounts are different too.

        I have no problem swapping mounts as long as i can, i need to find found if its coil pack or not , i havnt seen either vehicle yet up close

        For all i know the guy was wrong and the wj has a 4.7

          not a big deal if one is coil pack and one is distributor, it will all switch over as long as the block is the same. The motor I put in my 01 cherokee was originally a distributor motor that i switch over to coil pack.
