  • chassie dyno Jeep with AW4?

not too familiar with the AW4 and how to control the trans yet but i am looking for the easiest way to keep the AW4 in a 1:1 ratio gear or the closest one to it.... 4th? i ask because i plan on dynoing a jeep with a recently rebuilt 4.0 that has had some internal work done and get some numbers.

thoughts and ideas? preferably something that can be undone after the 3 pulls as this may be sold to someone who isn't all that into XJs and just wants a nice daily XJ.

3rd is 1:1 you need a way to hold it in. Other wise it wants to down shift, you can do this with switches or with http://www.radesignsproducts.com/Rail.html

really doesnt matter which gear your in. The only thing a different gear will do is prolong the time in the pull which broadens the dyno graph. The only thing that might make a difference is lockup. switch to hold lockup should be easy, otherwise just put it on the dyno bring up the road speed and floor it.

i've been looking at the rad shifter set up and will be getting that for my jeep when the new 4.0 and built up AW4 go in but haven't started yet as i still need axles hahaha.

i was thinking the only way to do a correct dyno pull would be to mess with the jumpers in there, i'll search around some for the thread showing you how to hotwire your tranny

When I built my turbo cherokee I had issues on the dyno as well then I made the shifter.

hmmmmm this is of much interest to me..... can you elaborate a bit more on that?

custom entire set up or just like cut a few wires to make it work?

Parted that out. The shifter was sold to a guy from Pirate with a tube chassis rig running a Jeep drivetrain.
