  • Brake stuff

Okay, went to do pads and front rotors Saturday. Popped the bleeders on the calipers and compressed them to fit the new pads on... both front hard lines ended up popping. Replaced them, still no pressure and a massive leak. Discovered the master was leaking at the vac booster, replaced it, bench bled the replacement one and that one's leaking right off the bat too. What the actual fuck is going on? Just a bad reman?

The new one was properly bench bled, there were no leaks at the reservoirs on either, all lines are connected tightly, bleeders are tight, brake hoses have brand new crush washers.

Are you sure the new master is leaking and its not left over break fluid inside the booster being forced out?

The level in the reservoir is dropping. It's not fluid leaking out of the booster.

are you looking for advice or just complaining?
I've had bad new masters before.
Figure out were it is leaking, if it is the master, then warranty it.
I cannot fix your car over the internet.

And usually when 1 brake line is rusted enough to blow they all are.
Brake lines rust out real fast on some cars like Chevy trucks within only 5 years, and those take almost 10hr to run all new lines.

I was mainly wondering how common it is for a new master to be bad from the get go.

                NAPA.

Found the problem, replaced it again and it's fine. Got a new vs reman one. Lesson learned

I got 2 bad ones in a row from Napa once.
first leaked second the threads were screwed up so I could put the line on.
