  • Gear Comparison

Looking for experiences with different kinds of gears installed. Anybody blow any up? Manufacturers’ to avoid?

I ran Motive gears in my HP30 and they set up easy and ran well. Looking to regear a D60 and 14B to 5.38. Thinking of running Motive again, they are about half the cost of Yukon. Both companies CNC out of 8620 Steel.

Wondering what peoples personal experiences are, how easy to install, have you blown up any, noise, etc etc.

I like Yukon if you want to save a couple bucks buy their standard brand which is a lot cheaper. I like Yukon install kits better. I have installed a few different brands, little noticeable difference in the gears, the install kits is where I saw the difference. Better style of shims plus seal and ring gear bolts quality. I've had some NON Yukon brand kits not even have enough shims to get the carrier tight, good thing Yukon supplied me with extra. Forget the brand names.

Randy's Ring and Pinion/ Yukon has always been good to me as far as information fixing order mishaps got the wrong carrier break before, warrantied a spartan a few months out of warranty.
    Plus they support our sport.

Basically the better gears will be quieter and stronger.
You are only talking about a few percent stronger not the difference from D30 to a D44 type stronger.
A D60 and a 14b is probably overkill so run whatever you like.
