A few sensors are different and plugs but if you sit down and tinker you can figure it out. But I'm sure you can find a 96+ 4.0 for cheap

I talked to Hux earlier .. seems like it is reasonable to do this...I did think of this dizzy but it seems like I'm gonna get this thing uber cheap and it will save the hassle of junkyard run after junkyard run.

hmmm, i am coming up for KOT on the 4th...with a trimmer and a pickup.....okay so let me ask this, is it feasable to downgrade to an obd1 system, ive read up on changing sensors etc and manifolds blah de blah...but afaik the engine harness is the only different aspect of obd1 to obd2 chassis electronics from 84-96 are virtually identical correct?

you can change it BUT for legalization the inspection station must run obd2 for a 96 vin. if you don't have a port you fail. unless you have a vin from a 95- and change the year of the jeep entirely

PA inspection doesn't require plug in....on top of that I don't inspect.my vehicles anyways so that's not a concern ....could always switch VIN plates too
                        ...

I really can't tell you....I have no clue anymore. Some electrical gremlin that hasn't shown its face in going on a year now....getting progressively worse, and from what I've heard/read 96's are plagued with those little gremlins.
