  • Killing an AW4..

anyone ever kill one? i have a spare in my other now retired XJ worked fine etc and all that shit, but i wanna just get rid of the damn thing dont feel like pulling it out in all honesty but has anyone ever needed to replace their AW4...ive had them for years now with not a single problem from any of them. wondering if its worth the extra work just to get that out of there. all thats left of the XJ is just a shell. anyone have opinions?

I think in the years of running a transmission shop I repaired/rebuilt 2. Neither were actually in a jeep. They were in toyotas, but same thing.

well weve had like 5 or six XJs over the years...every one of them had more than 150k miles on them and if you tallied them all up it came to over a million miles, i worry more about blowing up my 4.0 than i do the AW4...i just dont know if i feel like ripping that transmission out of the other one. sway me one way or another lol.

                False, but thanks.

Ian I killed one but it took a rock through the tranny pan to do it.
