Interior carpet cleaning/drying

The weather seal around the rear hatch window on my Suburban apparently has a leak, and the entire inside of the carper in the back is soaked. Like when you neel down on it, your pants have a nice cold wet spot on the knees instantly. Awesome. Since I sleep in it, I am somewhat concerned with having it clean and dry and especially mold free. It does not smell yet, but I'm sure that time is coming.

Looking for ideas on how to tackle this. Maybe rent a machine? I would like to use a slight bleach mixture to kill any mold. Also considering just taking it someplace and spending $50 or so to have the carpet shampooed.

Cut the carpet out and put some nice think form down and carpet over that so its comfy when you sleep in the back

Or rhino line it. For comfort, get a sweet mattress that fits or make one out of foam. The spare parts and tools in the back will eventually destroy the carpet anyway.

i would start by bringing it to a car wash where they do the crazy interior cleanings. if it's not 100% after that, i would try to find a heavy duty carpet cleaner (one that has bleach like you mentioned) and rent a hardcore shop vac or something

Take out the carpet, and rent one of the rug cleaner/shampoors and go to town, bring it inside let it dry, clean up the floor really well and dry. Put a dehumidifier in side the burb. I've heard of that working

I was thinking along these lines, but really don't feel like ripping my interior apart. Russell Speeders did a really nice job with the inside of Mollie's car. They said they would shampoo and dry the inside for $50. I think I will see how that goes first. I hate cleaning. Maybe leave my Mr. Buddy in there during the day while I'm working in the garage to really dry things out. If it still stinks/seems gross, I'll look at renting a machine and/or pulling the interior apart.

does the burb have barn doors? Mine did and it leaked like fucking crazy back there.

Nope, got the tailgate and window hatch. It is clearly not the right hatch for a my vehicle because I had to weld strut mounts on because they were in the wrong place. It wasn't until recently that I noticed the weather stripping had also been butchered to make room for the defroster and wiper wiring.

If you have a wet/dry vac. vac it up and clean with some tire bleach(will take any smell out) and or woollite carpet spray.
