  • Rear Fender Trimming?

Going to trim my rear fenders to get some more flex out of them. They always rub.

Anyways, i got off the fender flare, and i am not really sure how to trim the rears. I know you CAN'T cut into some welds, but i am not sure where they are, or even how to trim the rear. I know you're suppose to use the "cut and fold" method, but i'm still too dumb to figure out how. Just don't want to cut into one of these spot welds and not be able to fix it as i don't have a welder.

Can someone please dummy this down for me?

Picture should make you see how i think i need to do it more clearly. Is this correct?

you can sort of see spot welds as a dimple. but really even if you cut into one it wont be the end of the world as you are just hammering the spot up anyway.

cut the slits just as you have pictured the entire length of the material, there are spot welds every few inches along the entire span

the thing everyone says to avoid is cutting the section out of the jeep (along the whole length, removing a strip like you would the front fenders) because then they will just separate halves and the fender will be "open" due to every spot weld and material being literally removed.

if you cut vertically into any spot welds in the cut/fold method, it wont matter. if youre truly worried, cut between all of them

That makes perfect sense. Thank you. Going out in the garage to begin cutting.

Looks good. Make sure to make multiple cuts close together in the corners to het a nice radius.

That's exactly what my dad said. One side is finished. Painting it as you read this. Then on to the other side.

              Done.

Found some rust on the other side. Is there any fixes for this? Do thu make any beefed up parts or have any easy solutions to this?

to save you the time idk if you know this or not. remove the seat frame from the ZJ seats and then just transplant them onto your XJ frames....wayy simpler, i didnt do that homework before i put my mechanical ZJ seats in...spend half an hour trying to figure out how to bolt them in
