1.25" Forged Ballistic Rod Ends

Anyone have an objective, non-"BALLISTIC SHIPPING SUCKS" opinion on these? My Ruff Stuff heims are shot after one season and these are not a whole lot more expensive. More importantly... They're rebuildable.

I'm not a fan of the idea of having to buy $260 worth of heims once a year and just live with the fact that I can't drive my Jeep down the road by the end of the season because they're all worn out. Putting another turn on the retaining ring to milk them along or just spending $33 on the rebuild kit instead seems appealing. Researching how much life people are getting out of them now.

Ok, now onto their joints.....

BALLISTIC JOINTS FUCKING SUCK!!!!!
why you ask? becasue i waited 4 months for them to get them to my door. When they showed up they were empty, non machined, forgings of the joints. IDK HOW THEY FUCK THEY CAN EVEN THINK TO SEND ME 4 JOINTS WITHOUT NOTICING THEY ARE FUCKING EMPTY AND UNFINISHED...
2 more months and i finally had me some of them fancy ballistic joints. they were so pretty that they surely engineered them to be far supirior to any other rebuildable joint. WRONG!!!!!!

1 wheeling trip and they were fucking sloppier than a pig faced bar slut.
But thats okay i can just tighten them up! WRONG!!!!!

the fucking backside washer was fucking weaker than Steve Urcle from family matters. put a turn on the threads and the ball wanted to pop out of the other side and bent the washer..... OK i lost this battle... take the joint apart and see the shitty ass plastic they used in them...WTF

4 months later BALLISTIC MAKES AN UPGRADE KIT FOR THE JOINTS I HAVE.... YAYYYYY
2 months later they arrived and i rebuilt the joints.... AGAIN.....

1 wheeling trip in aaaaaaaand they got sloppy..... AGAIN.....

Then ordered the NEEEEWWWWWW UPGRADED for the joints and let them be...
they seam to be lasting now on the upper links of Kristys radius arms.... so they dont see much pressure anymore.

DONT DICK WITH BALLSTASTIC FAB. Im going with ruffstuff heims on my next build.
if you really want a rebuildable joint, go with the original CURRIE johnny joints.

i will also highly recomend trail gears CREEPER JOINTS.... i am very impressed and they are beasts. been on kristys jeep for a year and a half now and they are as good as the day i got them. Only thing with the creeper joints is they have a large body and need spacers to get the full potential from them.

EDIT: i clicked the link afterwords and realized your looking at the other style joints.... no experience with them.... but cant imagine it would be much different then the other joints.

id rather call ruffstuff and have new joints in no time, than have to wait around trying to rebuild joints from ballistic.....

I hate any joint that has spanner nuts. It seems that no matter what you do, they are always loose.
I cant understand why your ruff stuff ones didnt last.
Honestly I would call Dan and talk to him about it. Im over 2 years on 7/8" lowers and they are all fine. There should be no reason they are bad like that.

I will call Dan. I'm hearing a lot of other people with near identical setups to mine having trouble with their 1.25" heims lasting too.

I read a tread on naxja about this and people were saying to use dryflow on the heims, it's a "dry" lubricant so it doesn't attract dirt.

BEST HEIMS ON EARTH. period.


They're what alot of racers use, super high quality. Alittle on the expensive side, but they are soooo good. Well worth it.


Johnny Joints are always a great and durable option for any trail truck though. I'll stand behind them any day of the week. Cheap, completely rebuildable (doing it once every 4-5 years costs about $10 per joint) they really can't be beat.
