dial indicator with mag base
case spreadernot necessary, if you know what your doing
press
bearing splitter if your carefull you can cut them off
race drivers random asortment of old races, and a brass punch
seal drivers random assortment of cylindrical objects
Depending on the rear a 4-500 ftlb torque wrench for crush collar. big fucking breaker bar, not torque wrench. or purchase a solid collar
setup bearings
This is one of those things that if you have to ask, you should not be doing it.
just use your head, make sure everythign is spotless, no specs of dust anywhere the races or bearings seat, and make sure everything is to spec.... just dont get in over your head, and i suggest having someone walk you through a time or 2 first.....Last edited by justtorchit; 08-06-2012, 01:48 PM.Originally posted by Ktmracer419some people choose video games
some choose projects
some choose welding random things together

depends what diff you are doing.
Dana's shims go behind the bearings so you cannot just cut them off and press them on.
Some axle that will work. But not the dana's the bearings need to come on and off a bunch of times either setup bearings or a good puller or both.
Case spreader is important on the larger dana axles. carrier preload is very important for gear strength. D30 you can usually get away. without it.
You will need a large prybar or 2 and a large dead blow.
In-lb torque wrench you can get away without if you know the feel.
Dial indicator for the back lash is a must.
Some other diffs it's nice to have spanner wrenches.
And a pipe wrench to tighten up the pinion nut.
the rest of the tools you should already own.RCrocs #123 Brown CJ-5
