think of the light bulb as your engine and one of the wires going to the bulb as your hot(positive) and the wire on the other side is your ground and all the white is also ground. Now the Positive wire is insulated so that it doesn't leak any voltage to the ground and drain your battery. The starter uses amps from the battery to make(fancy words that are too long to explain for me and confusing even for me)the motor crank over if there are any cracks in the insulation and its touching ground it will drain your battery. The ohm is a unit that means how much resistance there is between two sources, for you its Your positive cable and your ground. So if you have a low number that's bad and if your meter reads OL over its good.
(this is all that stupid fancy stuff)
Now here is the kicker with this test because you have electric motors your alternator, and your starter to name at lest two they have coils with turn into magnetic fields when current(amps) are passed though them. Which make them turn electrical energy into mechanical energy and you might end up with a "false" reading because the coils are so to the armature

brush and coil are the same thing basically
    p.s. i am a horrible teacher :/

I think that makes sense. Basically it checks to see if there is any cuts/tears in the wires that would lead to voltage draining out and becoming useless energy.

I don't know if you saw my edit, but my resistance is actually about 36 ohms.

      Is this good or bad?

Alright, thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it.

I'm going to buy a new battery tomorrow, and if that doesn't fix everything, i'll begin trouble shooting it again.
