  • Bleeding the steering system?

Is there a way you can effectively bleed the steering lines of any air or anything? I've never heard of it so I'm just asking. The cap comes off my power steering pump once in a while and I'm not totally sure if the pump starts sucking in air which in turn now causes my power steering to 'jolt' and make a god awful fucking racket when turning the wheel.

I've had the power steering pump cap pop off a few times already and it's a good thing I noticed it at the bottom of Gatekeeper this past weekend or I would have been driving around with it off all day.

cap off, jeep on, keep the reservoir full of fluid, work the wheel back and forth, lock to lock (almost lock to lock, not the entire distance), slowly, it will self purge so long as you dont let the reservoir suck air. you should do it with the wheels in the air (jacked up). always worked for me when i needed it.

do it til there are no bubbles/foaming. may take several cycles to do it. do it up, let it sit for awhile (off) to settle, drive it around the block, do it again.
