Cylinder Hone

I started to hone the cylinders in the motor the other day and the 3 stone hone tool isn't working as well as imagined. We have a ball hone and the house, but it is too big. How do i measure to determine what size hone to get?

It's a 89 4.0

what about it isn't working well.. is it not breakin the glaze, no cross hatches?

Theres spots that it's not hitting to well, i still need to get a ridge reamer for the lip on the top.

ah I see... You almost would have been better off having it bored over a tad.
