  • Your ultimate budget build.

I might be in the market for another jeep ( well used probably 97-01 TJ ). What would your ultimate budget build be. It would still have to be able to drive around town and be a decent trail rig. With a price range being under $2500. Let me know what parts you think would be most practical and usefull.

-14 Subaru STI hatch Stage 2ish

Nope the 2500$ is my credit card limit lol. I would just like a somewhat capable rig for a cheap build. So 2500 is for parts and add ons. This thread could help you out too

        $1000 early 90's XJ
$500 for aussie lockers, front and rear
$150 for newer front axle shafts and 760 ujoints
$400 for a used set of 33's muds
        $200 for wheels
$60 for a solid front diff cover
$190 for some longer travel shocks

        $2500- total

get some sawzall blades, where you're going you don't need lift.

It would blow your mind how capable that thing will be too, and most likely make you question why you spent so much building a TJ, when you can beat the living piss outta an old ass XJ that goes everywhere.....
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

              2.5 " suspension lift
              1.25" body lift
              1" motor mount lift
              33's
              Spartan Front and rear
              Oil pan and belly skid
              Rear disc brake conversion.

thats right around that 2500$ mark. it would be a good weekend warrior rig. the suspension lift and body lift will give you enough room to run 33's but still drive well. and the mm lift will help take care of some vibes. sye and shaft might not even be needed.

You could build a cherokee for the price of a "well used probably 97-01 TJ"

And once all the doors are removed the roof wont be too bothersome.

Seems like xjs are the way to go. Here are a list of parts i have laying around that i can use for a build.

                        - Rough country control arms (came off the tj)

                        - 265x75-16 Toyo MT basically brand new ends up being 32x10.5, and i would just have to get rims.

                        - HD steering from rugged ridge.

                        - Saw zaw

                        - 2 pairs of KC fog lights

Should i even bother lifting it or just bump stop n trim it .

Whats wrong with your TJ? Spend 2500 on that since you already have a solid DD?

My girlfriend drives my Fj cruiser daily so the jeep is my current DD. But this thread isn't just for me its just seeing what YOUR ideal budget build would be.

                              My ideal budget wheeler?

Well YOUR budget is 2500. What MY budget and Your budget are, are two different things. 2500 is a pretty shitty rig.
