  • Determining Shock Length

How do you know waht size shocks to run? ZJ with 7 inch springs in the front. The rear is gonna be leaf sprung so i know it wont be the same size shocks. So im what im asking is what do i measure to figure out what size shocks to buy.

No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

i would reference a similar kit size, and check the part number of the shocks that come with it, check them against what their stats are. or you could do it the real way and flex out to the max and measure between mounting mounts to find your extended length, the side thats flexed up measure for your compressed length

      simple.

You can use tons of things to flex your suspension. Most of the time I use a boat ramp a few miles from my house to flex on when i need to measure. If you don't have one around you could use stairs, warehouse loading docks/banks, trees or even a buddys tire. Get creative
