tig welder

i have had a tig welder sittin at my house for a year now. my unlce gave it to me when he moved down south. i have never used tig. what can i weld with a tig welder? he gave me many size sticks with it. what metal thickness can i weld?

any help would be cool..

would i be able to weld shock mounts when i relocate them?

All depends on what model you have.
you need high frequency constant on AC to weld aluminum or other white metals.
All the rest just us DC (high frequency start so you don't have to scratch the tungsten to start the Arc.)
How thick you can weld is based on the amperage of the machine and the size tungsten you use if the tungsten is to thin it will melt to thick you don't get as precise of an arc.
Aluminum you need more amps because it disburses the heat so fast.

I usually st my TIG around 150 amps and use 3/32 tungsten that will weld 3/16 mild steel no problem 100amps will go pretty far just slower.

My torch is only rated up to 200amps anyways. I only do that with 1/8 tungsten when I'm welding knuckles on axles or something like that.

so what kind of TIG do you have is it small or the size of tool box does it plug into 110 or 220, single phase or three phase, water cooled or air cooled with AC or just DC.

What make model and amp rating is it. would def help with what you can do with it. then i would sudjest selling it if it is a good machine and buy a nice mig welder because if all you are doin is basic fab thats all you need.

its not a tig.. i looked at a little better.. its a lincoln arc welder. just wondering what i could do with it. ?? what metal thickness and such.. thanks
