  • pinion guard

So the pinion guard on my 44 has come loose and is spinning causing a horrid noise. From my understanding its a pressed fit so how do I go about securing it back on the axle?

Pictures would help but my suggestion would be to just cut it off.

I would love to get a solid pinion guard on a dana axle but I just couldn't think of a solid way. with out adding 40lbs

If you have a removable pinion support like 9" or 14bolt then go for it.

that won't limit the seal life?

do you really think that little dust shield is going stop anything major?
Plus our pinions will break before they seal wears a groove.

Some pinions don't even come with them.

I'm just thinking sand or grit will gets into the seal obviously lessening the life span. That cover is ment to deflect most small debris. I'm not talking about a rock here or that it strengthens the pinion at all
