  • Spring compressor ?

    I ordered a2 inch budget lift for the wrangler for now soci am wornderjng if I will need to dis connect the sway bars and shocks or ifi can just rent a spring compressor and comPress the springs enough to get them out and install the 2 inch spacers?
    -98 XJ 4.5" lift , 35's, trimmed, locked, geared, flexy
    -14 Subaru STI hatch Stage 2ish
    -54 Dodge Power wagon M-37
    -57 GMC Pickup
    -Tim (OIIIIIO)

    My first lift I used a spring compressor... I will never do that again if I can help it... just dont trust them. IMHO it is faster and easier to just disconnect the sway bar and shocks (only really need to do one side of the sway bar and you'll probably be doing shocks anyway)

      ya im just going to unbolt everything after reallly thinking it through!

        By unbolting the shocks and sway bar links you should be able to jack up one side of the axle and make it flex out, then you should have enough room in there to put your new springs in. If you still dont have enough clearance the spring compressor is free to borrow at autozone for 30 days, be sure to get the one that goes on the out side of the springs. Best of luck

          unbolt the swaybar and jackup the opposite sideof the axle and take the tire&rims of it and use a spring compressor, it's a still a pita but if you have no use of a lift it works pretty good.
