  • clutch upgrades

i dont know much about clutches just yet but mine is definitely needing replacement.

my question is should i just do an OE replacement or get an upgraded one? anyone have any experience with the differences? i found one at quadratec which sounds good and all but i am just inexperienced with this.

if anyone could help me decide that would be great. or if anyone has any experience on replacing it yourself, how difficult, lengthy, tools, etc

    thanks

quadratec tends to be a bit exspensive, try rockauto.com and go for upgraded one if available.

        just run the OEM clutch

Jay #222 RCrocs the guy that always beating me runs a AX-15 with OEM clutch and he slips the clutch all the time you would swear he runs an automatic. with no issue definitely proves the OEM one can hold up.

You want it to hold but not be too sensitive when rock crawling you also want it to slip easy.

oem is fine I got 140k hard miles out of mine. It only got swapped out at that mileage due to a throw out bearing the exploded apart (guess being submerged in mud/water alot takes it toll

I replaced mine with a LUK brand clutch and never had a problem with that one either ( LuK is what oem clutch is)

Luk clutch kit that includes everything you'll need is roughly $150

includes new throwout bearing, pilot bushing, alignment tool , pressure plate etc. Then you could always have your flywheel resurfaced but ive never really had a problem just leaving it as-is and cleaning it a little with a surface prep disc

ok sounds like i may be a bit too cautious here with this. i was real nervous of going down to oer and slipping it all day down there and possibly not being able to get home but i dont think ill have a problem. i have 86000 on it now so compared to yours seems like ill be alright for a while. but when the time comes looks like ill just be doing an oem one.

            thanks for the advice guys!

I know Jay #222 said he slipped his clutch so bad once it heated it up until it wouldn't grab any more then let it cool of and worked perfect after wards.

ok ya that helps a ton justin. the other day i was tooling around in a bunch of rocks slipping it harder than usual and it stopped grabbing as hard but i guess once it cools back down it is fine.
                thanks man!
