The other day I worked on a 2002 explorer the posi was bad (chattered) so we replaced to whole diff because the clutches were on back order.
Anyways I kept the Diff which is an independent Aluminum housing Ford 8.8 Diff. It is a rear diff so the shafts are long because it is centered unlike a IFS diff which offsets the pinion to one side and uses short shafts.
My thought obviously was this is cool how can I use it.
Thinking Thinking Thinking
I gots an idea build a IFS honda buggy.
So this is where you come in.
The shafts are 31 spline at the Diff but only 29 spline at the outer.
Now I've searched for 29 spline unit bearings the ford explorer style use a pressed in bearing assembly not a bolt on that you are used to seeing.
Might still be an option.
However I searched 29 spline hubs Nissan come up no so keen on that.
Then 2005-2008 grand cherokee and commanders use 29 spline hubs.
So does anyone have a 2005-2008 grand Cherokee hub laying around.
So I can see if they will match up?
Also isn't the 2005 When they went to IFS? maybe I can just use their knuckles etc with longer A-arms
What do you guys think, build a miniature Campbell rig?
