96 xj no spark

its been giving me a little bit of a hard time starting lately and yesterday when i was out on one of the local trails it just shut off on me and wont start now.theres no spark coming through the coil so im thinking either the coil or the cps, but how do i test the coil to know if its bad before getting a cps? 96 xj auto 130,000. im going to pull the cps and give it a good cleaning to see if it helps at all but my schedule today is all screwed up so id like to at least throw the volt meter on the coil to know if its that or not. im getting fuel, and it will crank no problem its just not getting spark.

Replaced CPs and coil. Still no spark. Any suggestions?

fixed it. it was the little 30 amp ignition fuse under the hood. i couldve sworn i checked all of them. oh well. its up and running.
