  • No start Problem

So I've tried everything i can think of and am officially ready to throw in the towel and ask for help. My Jeep Just kind of lost power and started to idle around 500 rpm the other day. From cranking it so much i thought i killed the started because all it would do is click. So in order to even figure out why it died, I've been trying to get it started so i went through everything and put a new starter in. The problem is, it still just clicks like it's got a dead battery. I checked everything, grounds, relay's, fuses and still can't get it to start. Any idea's????

Either your battery is dead or your starter might be fried. use a set of jumper cables and hook them to the starter. then tap the other end to the battery. see if that starts it. If not its one of those two issues for sure.

It's got a red top thats almost new, i even took the cables and hooked it straight to the charger and nothing. I also tried grounding the motor and starter with it and still get nothing. This is why i'm so baffled

I'm not sure if the 4.0's have a starter relay but that might be something to look into as well.

You need new battery cables. Mine did this when I first got it. Its either that or the connections on your starter are garbage. Even tho you hooked up the jumpers right to the cables to the starter, there's not enough juice getting through. Might as well try it, it'll cost you like 15 bucks.

x2 on battery cables. Also, I have a yellow top and haven't had any issues with it but I've had friends who had optimas that went bad after a few months. They got a new one from the warranty but it did something similar.

I got it all sorted out guys, thanks robbie. It was the battery terminal. The no start was due to the 2nd power wire playing hid and seek on me

Glad you figured it out. When I got mine and it was doing this I was so aggravated, I thought it was going to be an electrical nightmare but it turned out it was just bad cables.
