  • Rear Suspension questions.

Alright so my rear shock setup is not so great, not enough travel... I want to go through the floor using http://www.liquidironindustries.com/...0&bestseller=Y With a set up similiar to Will, and Andrews, ALEX'S.

I have 8 inch travel 5150s in the garage right now, could I use those or should I get something longer (I have ~4.5 inchs of lift).

Also I want to do something about my shackle angle, Should I do slider boxes or shackle relocation boxes?

I think you will find 8" of travel will be too little unless you really shorten the hoops... at 4.5" i would be at at least 10" even better 12".

The shackle angle problem would be up to you... Do you want 3/4-1.5" of extra lift for shackle relocation and supposedly a billondy times better ride or do you want to stay at the same height(relatively) by using the slider boxes... either way SHOULD be wintastic.

I say should because as of right now I am just going by what I have read on the intrawebs and have no experience in either of the fields of outboarding the rear shocks or shackle relocation/sliderboxes.

Ya I could deal with an extra inch or so of lift int he rear as I just put clayton 4.5 coils in and they sit really tall.

I have 10" travel shocks in the back, however I am pretty positive i dont use all 10" of stroke (what she said)

so i dont see why u couldnt make that work

however at 4.5" of lift i would shoot for 10" shocks regardless, more shock is more oil is more gooder is more travel available is more less chance of bottoming which is more betterer

i didnt do shackle relocation because of the additional lift involved in using them, i have zero complaints about my slider setup.

Thanks dude, the slider or relocation brackets wouldnt be for more lift it would be for shakle angle.

Off to hunt for 10 inch travel shocks.

yeah i hear ya..maybe i worded it odd...i meant to say i didnt wanna do them, because of the added lift it would give me (shackle relocators)

either solution will make everything "more betterer"

i have permanently swarn off anything to do with leaf springs.........

therefore, i feel obligated to say 4 link with either airshocks or coilovers, no balls.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

10" or 12" will suit your needs superbly. the only thing that will change is the height of the hoops. If you are on a budget, just go with what you find. Im happy I did 12" shocks because hopefully I will be getting some of those LII bolt in slider boxes in the near future.

97 TJ that I think is pretty neat.
