  • Yet another motor issue...

Hey guys, I know this must get annoying after a while...seems like anything I've ever posted is about my Jeep having engine issues, which isn't a stretch of the imagination by any means. Anyway, does anyone know if an engine block out of an 88 Cherokee will bolt up to my 01 Cherokee without any huge issues? I finally found a decent price on one and it doesn't have more mileage than what I initially had. So I figured I'd look into it.

I'm almost positive that the block should be the same... you might have to swap intakes and such.... and I'm not sure if you'll have issues with sensor locations on the block etc... but it should work....
    Thanks,
    mike...

I'm not sure on the block, I think it might be the same, but you'd probably be better off getting an HO motor of a year closer to yours. I guess it depends on your mechanic ability and whether or not you'd be doing the work yourself. A motor out of a newer xj would essentially be plug and play.

Yeah pointless... some sensors on the block may be different and the renix has a different cam then an h.o
