  • changing/rolling back mileage on non-digital cluster

Is there a way to roll back the mileage for a 96 and older gauge cluster that has the electric speedo? I want to do a gauge swap cuz i hate my dummy light gauges...

I assume because he would still like to be alerted when something is fatally wrong but would like a gauge readout instead of just an "its too late" light

'tis what i did as well, except i never rolled my mileage back, i noted what it was at when i pulled the old cluster and wrote it in my glove box, so I can always be sure of the current mileage

sorry no help, i didnt know at the time how to either, haha

I'm just curious why it matters. Do you plan to sell the vehicle? Worried about changing your oil? Every 3k, haha.

When I swapped the engine block in my Cherokee, we didn't change the mileage...would there be a reason to, something I don't get? To me the mileage means nothing, really, especially if you constantly keep on top of maintenance.

I guess if someone ever asked you, you could tell them you have XXXX many miles, but wouldn't you laugh and reply, 'which part?'

if he ever sells it, or crashes it and needs to collect insurance or something of that nature on the value, I'd bet vehicle mileage would play into that...good to know in any case

Well i mean i dont mind the mileage, but i like to have everything the way it should lol...i have 180k on it now and i dont want one with readings of more than 200k, which is what i usually find, but if it will have to come down to it, i guess i just have to settle

when i pulled the cluster out of my 94 i accidentally rolled a few of the numbers forward and it's still worked fine. not sure if it was just my stupidity or if you can actually do it manually

I think I have a dash that says 149 if you're interested. Its out of a 90, so I dunno how compatible it is. But if you want it it's yours.
