ball joint issue

  • ball joint issue

    i'm having trouble getting 1 lower ball joint out of my dana 30. used a ball joint press, 3 foot cheater bar, torch and hammered on it while the press was tightened to no avail. it won't even budge.

    anyone have a trick or tip? maybe there is a hydraulic ball joint press out there or something

    Are you sure its pressing against the bal joint and not the C? I had to mess around with sockets and shit to get my ball joits out when I use the autozone press. If not get stronger friends and more cheater bars.

    Are you trying to press down or up? the lowers go DOWN to come out.

      punch it in the face. really tho, i had the same problem as caleb when i pulled mine. it was tough to get it just right enough to really make contact on the joint.

        it was set correctly, just was a bitch to do. chris and i just finished them and it took a ton of heat, both of us on a 3ft cheater bar and a big fucking hammer but they are done

                Its wierd my ball joints popped right out, im pretty sure they where original from 1995 too. At least ya got it out.

                  lol thats whats funny. i've never had this jeep apart yet and the hub bolts almost came out by hand and the unit bearings fell right out

                  the uppers were easy and came right out as well. the drivers side lower was a bitch but once it popped it came out. the other lower though was hell getting out and damn tough getting the new one in too. maybe the hole is misshaped a bit idk.

                  i guess bit of an update though my knuckles are getting the spacers welded now and the steering narrowed and sleeved. should have them back monday and bolt it all up. all i have to do is drill the wj rotors

                    If you run into something like this again heat the C cherry red then cool the joint then slam it out of there
