  • Ring gear spacer

Has anyone here used a ring gear spacer on a d44 or the like???

I might have a line on some used (500 miles) 4.88 dana spicer gears but i will either need a new carrier or a ring gear spacer. I heard that from the factory some OEM's use ring gear spacers but I wanted to Consult youinz.

I've heard something about this with the series 3 carriers and 4.10s but never looked into it.

I never used them but you will also need some longer bolts.

If you have an expensive full locker I would just buy correct gears. by the time you buy the spacer and bolts you will be close to the price of gears, gears are not the expensive part.
Just run Standard gears if your worried about price. They are just a little noisier, don't have the same surface finish, but like $50 cheaper.

      Or get a new carrier.

I would spend the money where it is important.
IMO I would sell the gears.

Our old plow truck has one... seemed to work fine for 4.10s and a V-8 when the rest of the truck was in good enough condition to drive.
